R. STEVE TAYLOR SR. AULANDER – R. Steve Tayloe Sr., 61 died at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie, NC, July 13, 2005. Mr. Tayloe was born and raised in Aulander. He graduated from Aulander High School and attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. He returned to Aulander and continued farming with his family. He was married to Gail Wood in 1962 and raised three wonderful children. Steve has a great love and concern for all people. He showed this so wonderfully in the auto industry. All who knew him noticed his kindness and generosity. He has a great love for his wife, his children and grandchildren. His passion for the beach and fishing were a very important part of his as well. Preceding him in death were his mother, Hallie Rae Peele Tayloe and his father, Frank Raymond Tayloe. Survivors include his wife, Gail W. Tayloe of the home; two daughters, Dawne T. Hendrix and her husband Chris of Greenville, NC, and Mary M. Tayloe of Greenville, NC; one son, Ricky Tayloe and his wife Susan of Orlando, FL.; one brother, Ralph P. Tayloe and his wife Rachel of Franklin; and his mother-in- law, Margaret Wood. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Hendrix and Trey Tayloe. A memorial service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at the Ahoskie United Methodist Church, Ahoskie, with burial following at the Aulander Cemetery, Aulander. Officiating will be the Rev. John Dutton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ahoskie United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 665, Ahoskie, NC 27910, American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or the Aulander Rescue Squad, PO Box 249, Aulander, NC 27805.
