Delano Orr ''Don'' Newbern, 54, of the 200 block of Harrell St., died June 1, 1992, in a hospital. Mr. Newbern was born in Norfolk. He was a self-employed carpenter and was also a carrier for The Virginian-Pilot for five years. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Betty Owens Newbern; a daughter, Teresa Brinkley of Hertford; and two sisters, Clarice Turner of Norfolk and Doris Rickey of Mena, Ark. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Powells Point Christian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Homer Styons. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Twiford's Memorial Chapel and other times at the residence. |
