Funeral services for Mrs. Joe C. Kerr, 53 years of age, were held Thursday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. from the Edelen-Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shiley Beard in charge, assisted by Rev. Arnold and Rev. Brooken Campbell. Burial was in the Brookside Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Horace Parrish, Ray Coontz, Johnnie Pendleton, Archie Cowherd, Richard Rucker, J. R. Beams, and Dick Parrish. Mrs. Kerr, the daughter of the late William Berry Cowherd and Harriet Turner Smith Cowherd, was born July 4, 1901 in Taylor County and died Tuesday, July 27, 1954 at 5:00 p.m. at her home on Route 4. She had been in ill health for three years and had been confined to the bed for the past 3 or 4 months. She united in marriage to Bruce Kerr on September 11, 1924, who survives. She is also survived by one son, Howard Lee Kerr, Campbellsville; one step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Greer, Dayton, Ohio; also two sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Sue) Pendleton, Taylor County and Mrs. Ford (May) Beams, Green County. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, August 5, 1954 |
