Little George Dedrick’s mother took him to Tennessee with her to care for her sick mother, Mildred Outlaw. The child died while in Tennessee and was buried at Cane Creek Cemetery. Mildred Outlaw recovered from her illness, but died 3 months later when her house burned down. Mildred was blind and alone in the house at the time. It was never known whether she bent over the poke the fire in the fireplace and fell into the fireplace, or if she had a heart attack in her chair and fell into the fireplace. Margaret Anna was still grieving from the death of her child and did not return to Tennessee for her mother’s funeral.
