Howard Lee Belangia, 79, of 1314 Lynch's Corner Road, Elizabeth City, N.C., died at Albemarle Hospital, Thursday, March 23, 2006. He was born in Columbia, N.C., to the late Louis Burfoot Belangia and Maggie Virginia Byrum Belangia, and was the husband of Annie Mae Johnson Belangia. Mr. Belangia is survived by four daughters, Martha Mae Thomas and Shirley Ann Johnson of Windsor, N.C., Barbara Rose Bracy of Georgetown, S.C., and Katherine Louise Jones of Sunbury, N.C.; one son, Herman Howard Belangia Sr. of Elizabeth City; one sister, Nellie Faye Sexton of Ahoskie, N.C.; one brother, Melvin L. Belangia of Murfreesboro, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held today at 1 p.m. in Twiford's Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Steve Jones and the Rev. Steve Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Chesapeake Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake, Va. The family will receive friends and relatives in the lobby of the funeral home following the service. Twiford's Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, is assisting the Belangia family.
