Listed in Outstanding Young Men of America 1971 and in Personalities of the South. Served as booking agent for Eastern NC High School football; former member of the Murfreesboro Rotary Club and Jaycees. Survivors include: wife, Alease Willoughby Dilday; daughter, April Dilday Lassiter of Aulander, NC; son, James Earl Dilday Jr. of Murfreesboro; mother, Thelma Copeland Dilday of Ahoskie; 2 stepdaughters: Pamela Buss of Pittsburg, PA and Fran Ashworth of Murfreesboro; sister, Dianne Dilday of Raleigh, NC; 3 grandchildren; and 2 stepgrandchildren. Burial Ahoskie Cemetery.
