EMMIE WHITE ASKEW Emmie White Askew, 95, died Friday, May 14, 2004. She was born to the late Martin Lafayette and Claude Todd White in Windsor on June 12, 1908. Her husband, William Askew and son William "Bill" Askew Jr. preceded her in death. She loved her church and community. Mrs. Askew was the oldest surviving member of Dortches Baptist Church. Mrs. Askew had a private showing of her paintings several years ago at the Cultural Arts Center in Nashville. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jane Tharrington of Greenville, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special in-laws. A gathering to celebrate her life was held on May 16, 2004 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park with Dr. Chet Rains officiating. Arrangements were made by Johnson Funerals and Cremations of Rocky Mount. |
