LEONARD C. WHITE MERRY HILL - Leonard Carson White, 79, of the 400 block of Farless Road, died February 7, 2005 at Bertie Memorial Hospital. Mr. White was born in Bertie County on March 28, 1925, to the late Paul and Beatrice (Addie) White and was predeceased by two brothers, Hubert and Vernon White and sister Grace Askew. Mr. White was retired from VEPCO after 28 years of service and also served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. White was a member of South Norfolk Moose Lodge No. 464 and a past governor and fellow of the order for 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening and was a member of Glade and Farless Hunting Clubs. Survivors include his wife, Blanche F. White of Merry Hill, NC; sons, Larry White of Virginia Beach and Ronald White of Norfolk; daughter, Donna Smith of Virginia Beach; brother, Jessie White of Tarboro, NC; sisters, Susie Miller, Pauline Turner, both of Colerain, NC, Elizabeth White of Raleigh, NC and Myrtle Ward of Williamston, NC; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walker Funeral Chapel, Windsor, NC, by the Rev. Al Jarrell. Memorial gifts may be given to the charity of one's choice. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at their home. |
