MARK D. HOGGARD SR. COLERAIN - Mark Daniel Hoggard Sr., 67, passed away April 6, 2004, in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital. He was a native of Bertie County and the son of the late Charney E. and Odell Cowan Hoggard. He was the founder of the Laymen Quartet which sang southern gospel music for the past 32 years. He was also the owner of Mark Hoggard Logging and Farming. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Lou Wilson Hoggard; daughter, Deborah Tinkham and husband Tommy of Colerain; two sons, Michael Hoggard and wife Vicky of Merry Hill and Mark Hoggard Jr. and wife Amanda of Colerain; three sisters, Emily Jackson of Colerain; Ina Dunning of Windsor, and Beatrice Smithwick of Currituck; a brother, Charney Hoggard of Windsor; five grandchildren, Michelle Chappell and husband Rodney, Will Hoggard, Daniel Tinkham, Birana and Trey Hoggard. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bethel Assembly of God Church, Askewville, NC by the Rev. R.O. Denton Jr., the Rev. R.O. Denton, Sr., the Rev. Roger Leggett and the Rev. Al Jarrell. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity of one's choice. |
