Kenneth James Chesson, 87, died at his residence on Monday, July 28, 2003. His wife, Mattie Lane Chesson, predeceased him. Born in Roper, North Carolina, he was a longtime Norfolk resident and a retired realtor. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Chesson is survived by his daughter, Dianne Brown and her husband Richard of Chester; two brothers, Hilton Chesson and his wife Merle and Gordon Chesson and his wife Thelma; a sister, Ola Patrick, all of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Ben Williams and his wife Carolyn of Roanoke and Erin Williams of Richmond; and his great-granddaughter, Grace Williams of Roanoke. A service will be held at Noon on Thursday, July 31 in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Avenue, Norfolk. Burial will immediately follow at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Chesson's memory to the charity of ones choice.
