Herman Payne Pierce, 79, of Route 1, died April 17, 1995, in his home. Mr. Pierce was a member of Colerain Baptist Church and Davie Masonic Lodge (NU)39, AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, Inez Brown Pierce; a son, James Edward Pierce of Wilmington, N.C.; and a grandson, Eddie Pierce of Washington, N.C. A funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Robert Kelley. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain, with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
