She was born in Martin County to Mrs. Irene Butler Cherry and the late Haywood Cherry Jr. Mrs. Hoggard worked for Timberland Unlimited as an Office Manager. She was a member of Cashie Baptist Church and was a Choir member. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hoggard; one daughter, Brooke Cherry Davis of Windsor, North Carolina; two sons, Ric and his wife Mary Jo Lane Hoggard of Windsor, North Carolina, Walt Hoggard of Durham, North Carolina; one grandchild, Dylan Hoggard and a sister, Mary C. Miller of Cumming, Georgia. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Dennis J. Conner. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the home on Water Street. Memorial gifts may be made to the Bertie County Relay for Life or Universal Hospital Hospice, P.O. Box 272, Ahoskie, North Carolina 27910. Walker Funeral Home in Windsor is in charge of the arrangements.
