Ida Ann Bain Myers, 75, died Monday, July 29, 2002 at her home after mounting a courageous battle against Parkinson's Disease. She was a native of Greensboro and the daughter of the late Edward Everette Bain, Jr. and Isabel Keener Bain. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Paxton Myers, Sr., who passed away Nov. 25, 2001, and her sister, Betty Bain Poteet. Through her mother she decended from some of the pioneer families of Jackson County; among them being the Keeners, Wilsons, Allisons and Brysons. She was a graduate of Sylva High School and attended Western Carolina University. She and her husband owned and operated the Bryson City Motor Court for many years. Ida had worked with the Swain County School System for several years. She was a former member of the Governor's Beautification Council being appointed by Governor James G. Martin. She was best known as an avid gardener and housekeeper. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
