GARNETT E. JOHNSON EURE - Garnett Evans Johnson, 82, of the 100 block of Tinkham Road, died February 3, 2005, in Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. Mrs. Johnson was born in Bertie County, NC and was the daughter of the late John W. and Julia Elizabeth Mathis Evans. She worked as a seamstress with the Ahoskie Manufacturing Co. and Dalure Fashions in Gatesville. A lifelong member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, she was active in its Women's Missionary Union and Grace Crawford Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Gatesville Chapter No 335, Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents and all 10 of her siblings, she was predeceased by husbands, W. Melvin Harrell and Lewis P. Johnson. Surviving are one daughter, Olia Elizabeth Harrell and husband Stanley of Virginia Beach; one son, James M. Harrell and wife Inda of Eure; four grandchildren, Stan M. Harrell and wife Paige of Alexandria, Keith M. Harrell and wife Debbie of Louisville, KY; Cynthia A. Jeffers and husband John of Goldsboro and James C. Harrell and wife Phyllis of Eure; and five great- grandchildren, Christy, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Nicole and J.D. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Cool Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Roger Kiker and the Rev. Joe Wynns. Eastern Star rites will be accorded. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends my join the family Sunday from 3 5o 5 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at the home of her son, 119 Tinkham Road.
